About the artist
Hello, my name is Erin Roberts.
Originally from Orangeville ON, I am now living in London ON with my husband Tim, and my obese rescue cat named Grim. (We adopted her this way and have been working to get her weight down slowly.)
Together, we have made a home here in London, and over the past four and a half years, I have been working to establish connections with other like minded folks in the city.
I have worked as an artist in some capacity for nearly twenty years.
Primarily, my experience as a working artist has been as a musical performer, session vocalist, or as a singer-songwriter under my alias : Arlo Sun.
I have been a life long creative, endlessly curious about the world and people around me, and devoted to self expression. I believe the deepest connections with friends, family, and those you love is made most possible when you understand your own personal language. For me, its my creative energy - so I practise it, protect it, and hold it sacred.
Over the past several years I have turned to different mediums. Abstract expressionism allows me to explore my inner world without judgement and affords me to safely relinquish control.
Lately I've been thinking a lot about what a feeling would look like, or what colours survival might be. Does it change as we age? Do we adjust hues when reviewing a personal failure or painful memory each time we retrieve these stories? What happens when we don't share them as 'stories' at all? What does vulnerability look like? Is it possible to transmute triumph into shapes and colours?
Evidence I was is a collection of retrospective crossroads. It is an intimate and sacred practise I choose to share, and I appreciate you stopping by to have a look.
Garden rock in hand.
Not so different from today.
Lil devil.
I still love Halloween.
